Tropical Storm Irene..., makes landfall in New England Sunday, Aug, 28, 2011.  Communication disrupted.  Families unable to make it home due to roads being washed away.  Rumors running high.

Having grown up in VT, it makes one nauseous to see all of the pictures and videos of one's home being under feet of mud and water.  Did anyone think it would be this bad?  I think not.  Everyone was worried about the more coastal areas, which yes, did get hit, however look at the damage and tell me who got hit hard.  Timeout. It's not a matter of who got hit worse. Now it's about trying to move on from this terrible tragedy, and try to pick up the pieces of life along the way. Hopefully some pieces can be found in the mud.  Band together.  Vermonters; you are fighters! 

Something I found to be very awesome in trying to figure out if all my friends and family were okay was a Facebook page, Vermont Flooding 2011.  People helping people.  The page likes jumped from 500, 1000 within hours. It now has over 9,000 followers. People of Vermont, hold together. You are strong.

Starting of College

School has been in session for a solid two weeks now.  Yay!  I'm finally starting to settle in to the new schedule.  Sooo glad I'm taking in class courses.  What a difference from online courses.

C++ I'm finding difficult.  Talk about some deep programming.  I'm more used to xhtml, css, xml, and etc programming.  More front end.., not programming actual programs.  As class goes on I'm sure the language will come more easily.

Jazz improv is difficult in that we aren't just using the blues scale, but the chord progression in the song and playing the notes within that.  So looking at jazz in a whole different way.  But it's been fun so far.  I still really suck when my turn comes around for soloing. EEK!

Drawing is actually going good. Very surprising as I silently was super nervous about it.  This class and jazz class.  Some of the drawings I've done so far aren't too bad! Amazing.  Tomorrow will be drawing a still life of musical instruments.  Should be fun and crazy!  I'm taking my saxophone along the stand.

Something else that's exciting is that I will be riding my bike to classes! Woo! Some much needed exercise.

Woo! First blog of many to come! I am looking forward to a fun time sharing my experiences and failures with you.  I can hardly believe it is truly spring already!  Although it seems strange that it really was spring in Feb. as well!

This blog is a long time coming.  Recently I viewed another blog that really inspired me to start up...., and other than that I figure I should let stuff out! :) Enjoy. Here goes nothing!
